A Little Bit More About Me
Since my early years, I've always been drawn to science. I grew up watching reruns of 3-2-1 Contact, Bill Nye the Science Guy, and Beakman's World which paved my interest in science in school. I loved acquiring new knowledge about the way the universe worked. In my high school days I became more serious about biology and would do everything I could to get more exposure to it than my textbooks could provide. I would constantly be researching various topics of interest like the science behind chromatophores in cephalopods, epigenetics, and ebola virus. I loved the connections that science was providing me, and soaked everything up, making me the nerd I am today!
Other Interests
I'm an animal lover and have a personal menagerie of the cutest creatures known to men! My passion for animals extends to my dietary habits, and I prefer to eat cruelty free. One of the pluses of living in Detroit is the ability to help strays directly. I've taken in any animal that wanted the help, cared for their medical needs and have found them amazing forever homes. I am also a volunteer at the American Red Cross where I will be certified to teach CPR to the Detroit community. I enjoy volunteering in my free time in Detroit to help me understand my community's problems. As a suburban transplant to Detroit, I would have never thought in a million years that the city could capture my heart so much. I love living here, working here, and going to school here. Everything about it feels like home.
